Fran & Jane Routledge

We have lived in this beautiful part of Dorset for over 35 years.

Purbeck Safari is our family-run business where our aim is to enable others to experience the beauty, magic and wildlife of this amazing area in a unique way, as we invite you to explore the Purbeck heaths and hills in our Land Rover Defender.

Why not join us for a very different way of relaxing, by taking in the sights and history of this place we are privileged to call home.

Exploring Purbeck

The Isle of Purbeck is a place of rare lowland heaths, high chalk and limestone ridges with panoramic views, a world heritage 'Jurassic' coastline of soaring cliffs, sandy and shingle beaches and beautiful rolling farmland. We fell in love with this landscape when we first moved here and it was an amazing place to bring up our three daughters. Over the years, we've had lazy days on the sandy beaches of Studland, gone kayaking in Kimmeridge Bay and climbed the stunning sea cliffs near Worth Matravers and we hope you'll enjoy this unique way, on safari to see and learn about this beautiful landscape.

Your Safari Vehicle

You'll be taken on safari in our Land Rover Defender 2.4 TDCi, which is the perfect vehicle to explore the lanes, tracks and old byways that criss-cross the hills and heathlands. The Defender is renowned as a rugged, 'go-anywhere' vehicle, which is equally at home on the farm as on a jungle, desert or arctic expedition.  The first Land Rover was released in 1948 and it's become an iconic off-roader and one of Britain's most loved cars. Defenders are pretty basic vehicles but they occupy a unique part of Britain's automotive heritage and we feel sure you'll enjoy the ride and it will be a memorable adventure.
